Nourishing Kneads Infant Touch Therapy Education
Bonding through touch
This 1hr class is intended to educate parents/grandparents/guardians/caregivers on easy and appropriate touch therapy techniques that will stimulate and improve the child’s cognitive, physical, and emotional well-being, while promoting parent/child bonding.
Dolls and materials will be provided to each person. You will get to take home a massage techniques guide inspired by A Modern-Day Guide to Massage for Children book written by Tina Allen (founder of the Liddle Kidz Foundation).
Some benefits of learning touch therapy:
Provides important elements in the parent-child relationship for strong bonding: eye to eye contact, touch, smell, and vocalization.
Encourages, and improves, nonverbal communication in the family.
Aids parent’s confidence, and competence, in caring for their child.
Validates the family’s role in their child’s care.
Helps to reduce stress for parents, as giving nurturing touch may increase the massage giver’s oxytocin levels.
Provides parents with one-on-one time, parent-child interaction and an interactive play opportunity.
Disclaimer: This class will not provide continuing education credits or certify you to teach infant and pediatric touch therapy to others. If a couple would like to participate, each person needs to register, due to limited available space.
